Every paper for the project, searchable beside the notes you wrote about it.

Research spreads out fast. The PDFs sit in downloads, the highlights sit in a reading app, and the notes about them end up somewhere else again. Jotura puts them in one folder. PDFs and Word files get a Markdown copy that search can read, highlights from books you read on your phone arrive as notes, and links tie each idea back to the source it came from.

How it goes in practice.

  1. Gather the sources

Drop the PDFs and Word files into a project folder. Jotura writes a Markdown copy of each one for search and keeps the original beside it.

  2. Read and highlight

Read the longer books on your Android phone. Each highlight and its comment lands in a note for that book, ready to quote.

  3. Write the notes

Write a note per idea and link it to its sources by typing [[. Tag notes by theme, such as #method or #open-question.

  4. Find it again

Search the whole folder by word, or by meaning on the desktop, to find the note you only half remember.

What helps along the way.

  • Every source stays a real file you can open in its own app.
  • Search reads inside converted PDFs and Word files, so you never hunt for a filename.
  • Highlights from EPUBs and text PDFs on Android become one Markdown note per book, with your comments.
  • On the desktop, search by meaning runs locally, or through your own OpenAI key if you prefer.
  • Rename or move a note and every link to it updates.
